Purpose

Our group’s overarching goal is to advance the understanding and treatment of psychiatric and neurological disease by bridging the divide between basic science and clinical care. To achieve this aim, we leverage recent and on-going progress in molecular engineering and neuroscience in novel ways. Our work products include 1) Discovery of new neuroactive molecules; 2) Development of gene therapy reagents and delivery methods; 3) Characterization of circuit-level activity patterns and targets for therapeutic neurointervention.

Science is a team sport. Our work is built upon hundreds of years of exploration and the data and results we generate will inform research for decades to come. Research moves in unpredictable and exciting directions and our contributions must faithfully represent our observations.
